CounterWatch - Keep track of all of your auction / web counters from one easy to use program!  Create graphs, watch trends and statistics easily!

CounterWatch is currently in development.  I came up with the premise for the program recently after trying to unload a large number of movie posters on ebay for a friend.  Dont know about YOU, but i'm a stat's junkie.  I have to know the numbers on my auctions and websites and check my counters and log files frequently.  When i put up a large number of ebay auctions this was hard to do.  I quickly grew tired of logging into ebay, opening up 20 or so pages, taking glances at the ebay counters to check to see how many people were clicking on the auctions.  So i wondered... is there an easier way to check all these counters at once?  I quickly realized that NO, there wasn't an easier way, unless i wanted to sign up with andale and pay a monthly fee and then i would have to sign onto their service over the web to check my counter statistics.  So then i wondered, can i MAKE an easier way?  The answer was quickly YES and this is where Counter Watch came from.

Counter Watch is quite simple to use.  Click on 'Options' and 'Manage list of monitored items' to add or remove items from the watch list.  You only have to enter the auction number you want to monitor and a short description of the auction to begin watching that counter and start having it's tally of hits displayed on the monitor graph.

The BETA demo version only currently supports Ebay auctions, and currently only one style of counter.  You must be sure that the auction you are watching is using the basic style of andale ebay counter, or something that looks like this :   The reason for this is simple, when the program checks a counter it actually downloads the picture for the counter from the actual auction and then scans through that picture using some proprietary OCR (Optical Character Recognition) algorithms that i developed in order to pick out the numbers in the picture in order to graph and display them.

The program already has the capability to monitor not only ebay auctions, but ANY style of counter that is currently supplied by Dreamhost, as well as the ebay andale style of counter.  Further versions will support more and more styles of ebay counters as well as web site counters.

The auction you wish to monitor DOES NOT NEED TO BE YOUR AUCTION!  Any Ebay auction with the style of counter supported by the program can be monitored just by entering the auction number into the program.  This way you can not only watch YOUR auctions, but the auctions your interested in as well.  Perhaps you're planning on bidding on that cool auction, but would like to keep track on how many OTHER people are interested in it.  If you are, this is an easy way to do it.

Further versions of the program will be able to graph the counter data not only in total hit's, but also hits over time, such as per hour and per day, as well as display more information about the auctions in question such as current price and number of bids.
